Your Workweek is the set of days Vacation Tracker counts as working days. It's the base layer under every leave calculation: anything outside the Workweek is skipped, anything inside costs a day from the balance.

## The three levels

The Workweek sits at three levels, from broad to specific. Most specific always wins.

1. Default

### Set at signup

Applies to everyone in the workspace unless something more specific overrides it.

Example: Monday-Friday for the whole company.

2. Location

### Set on each Location

Applies to every User in that Location. Overrides the Default.

Example: Sunday-Thursday for the Dubai office.

3. Individual

### Set on a User's profile

Applies to that one User. Overrides both the Location and Default.

Example: Mon/Wed/Fri for a part-time hire.

## What changes when you adjust the Workweek

- New leave requests are counted with the new working days

- Future-dated leaves already in the system are recalculated

- Past, approved leaves are never recalculated (their day counts stay as they were)

- Notifications, calendar exports, and reports use the new Workweek from that moment on

## Common Questions

Does changing the Workweek change my historical balance?

No. Past, approved leaves keep the day counts they already had. Only upcoming requests and future-dated leaves are recalculated under the new Workweek.

What happens to existing future leaves when the Workweek changes?

They're recalculated. A leave that crossed days that are no longer working days will spend fewer balance days, and the other way around. The dates stay the same; only the day count changes.

If a User has an Individual Workweek and I change the Location, does the User update too?

No. An Individual Workweek is an explicit override. Remove the override on their profile if you'd like them to fall back to the Location's Workweek.
