# How Do I Set Email Leave Request Updates?

If you're on Slack or Microsoft Teams, your leave request updates and pending approval requests usually come through the Vacation Tracker bot. With the Email notifications setting, you can also get them by email at the same time. Your bot messages keep working as normal; email becomes a second channel that goes to the inbox tied to your Vacation Tracker account.

## Steps to Turn It On

- Sign in at app.vacationtracker.io (https://app.vacationtracker.io/signin).

- Click your name (or avatar) in the bottom-left of the sidebar and pick Account Settings.

- Scroll to the Email notifications section (marked NEW).

- Switch the Enabled toggle on.

- Click Save. From now on, leave request updates and pending approvals are also sent to your email.

## What You'll Get by Email

- Updates on your own leave requests: approvals, denials, edits, cancellations, and reminders.

- Pending approval requests (if you're an Approver): a notification for each new leave request waiting on you.

- Confirmation messages: when a leave you submitted is processed.

Turning this on doesn't change anything about your Slack or Microsoft Teams notifications. The bot keeps sending the same messages on the same channels. Email is added on top, so you'll see the update in both places.

Email goes to your Vacation Tracker email

Emails are sent to the address Vacation Tracker has for you (the one your account was created with). If you need to change it, an Admin can update it on your profile.

## Common Questions

I'm on Google Workspace or Email Only. Does this setting apply to me?

Email is already your main channel for leave request updates on those integrations, so this toggle is most useful for Slack and Microsoft Teams workspaces that want to add email on top of their bot messages. On Google Workspace and Email Only, the standard email flow continues as usual.

Will my Slack or Teams notifications stop if I turn email on?

No. Bot notifications in Slack or Microsoft Teams continue normally. Email is added on top, not as a replacement. You can turn email off any time and the bot keeps working either way.

Can an Admin turn this on for everyone in the workspace?

No. The setting is personal and lives on each User's Account Settings. Every User decides whether to add email to their own notification mix.
