Workers have the right to a paid vacation following a full year of uninterrupted work at the company. Vacation entitlement increases with the number of years of continuous service. If the employer agrees, an employee can delay taking part of their vacation (not all) to the following year, but not more than one year. ### Payment of Unused Vacation Leave upon Termination Required by law. When it comes to payout at termination, the employer is required to pay. So, employees who end their employment for any reason, including resignation, are entitled to monetary compensation for any unused vacation days. ## Sick Leave in Sudan Up to 9 months of paid leave. Employees in Sudan are entitled to up to 9 months of paid sick leave. To qualify for extended sick leave, employees must provide a valid medical certificate from an authorized physician or medical board. Payout Employees who are on sick leave are entitled to sick pay: - the first 3 months: 100% of salary - 3 to 6 months: 50% of salary - 6 to 9 months: 25% of salary After 9 months of illness, sick leave is not paid. Also, After exhausting these 9 months, the contract can be reviewed for termination on medical grounds. ## Maternity and Paternity Leave ### Maternity Leave in Sudan 12 weeks Pregnant employees in Sudan are entitled to 12 weeks of maternity leave. They become eligible for fully paid maternity leave after 6 months of continuous service. This leave is usually taken in the following manner: - 6 weeks of prenatal and 6 weeks of postnatal or - 4 weeks of prenatal and 8 weeks of postnatal Payout During maternity leave, employees typically receive reduced pay, usually around half their normal wage. ### Paternity Leave in Sudan Paternity leave is not required by law. ## Bereavement Leave in Sudan Required by law.
