If you are managing a dispersed team, you might be well aware of the different office location tracking technologies that are popping up on the market. These technologies help to track teams that spend most of their time on the road, in real-time. A lot of them even use GPS technology to specify specific employee locations.

If going as far as using a GPS tracker to perform office location tracking seems too intrusive, there are plenty of other solutions.

At Vacation Tracker, we take pride in our impressive customer list. Teams from well-known brands and organizations have adopted our leave-booking tool.

Then, our amazing customers have also found creative ways to use the tool. One of these creative uses was developed by a reputed international modeling agency. In today’s article, we will outline how their team has been using Vacation Tracker for office location tracking.

What Is Office Location Tracking?

First of all, a brief overview of what office location tracking means. In today’s effervescent business world, business operations don’t always take place in one location. They may not even take place during typical office hours. Furthermore, the locations can be international, spanning many time zones. How in the world are managers of remote or mobile teams expected to keep track?

Essentially, to keep things organized, many businesses with field employees have turned to office location tracking technology. In fact, location tracking is all around us. You use location tracking every day when you share your location with friends or family.

Office location tracking uses software to keep track of employees while they are on the road or on the field. Managers of these mobile teams need to know where their people are or will be, in order to plan accordingly.

In a nutshell, office location tracking can help to properly dispatch individuals or teams and to forecast business operations.

Who Uses Office Location Tracking?

Any company where employees need to visit various client sites can benefit from office location tracking.

For example, consulting teams, sales teams, construction or landscaping businesses, or even cleaning companies can reap the benefits of location-tracking software.

Unfortunately, software that uses GPS trackers can lead to perceived micromanagement. Moreover, they can be rather expensive. That is why some teams have turned to Vacation Tracker for their office location tracking needs.

The Story Of A Creative Modelling Agency

First of all, an international modeling agency surely has multiple office locations. The agency in question set up its Vacation Tracker account by creating a Team for each of the locations of their different agencies.

Secondly, they set up various Leave Types as “job sites” or recurring steps in their operations process. For instance, Leave Types such as “At a casting” or “On a shoot” were created.

Hence, when a model was scheduled for a casting call or had a shoot booked, she or he would select the appropriate Leave Type and date. As with any Leave Type, more than one date could be selected. Therefore, if the shoot lasted multiple days, it was not an issue. Adding additional information or comments to the request is also possible, and can be very helpful.

Once the Leave Type and date have been submitted, an Administrator can approve the request. Once approved, the Leave Type is visible on the administrator Dashboard, to the manager and to the rest of the team.

The benefit of tracking locations in this manner is that Vacation Tracker records all of this data. Subsequently, managers can print reports and have peace of mind that all of their employee’s working days were accounted for.

Why Did They Choose Vacation Tracker?

Alas, keeping track of field employees requires the right tools and consistent employee input. The tool you select needs to be user-friendly and easily accessible, from any device, otherwise, employees will not use it. Therefore, you might spend a small fortune on office location tracking software that just doesn’t meet your team’s requirements.

With Vacation Tracker, it is easy to make requests, changes, and add comments. This Slack-integrated application comes with a web-based Administrator Dashboard that keeps requested leaves organized and visible. However, users can access most of the Vacation Tracker functionalities without ever leaving Slack.

Moreover, Vacation Tracker offers automatic and customizable Notifications to keep everyone on a team informed. It’s easy to set up, and even easier to use.
