Guide: What Is Vee and What Can It See?

Vee is the AI assistant built into your Vacation Tracker dashboard, behind the purple Vee tab on the right of the page. Ask it about your time off in plain language and it answers from your real leave data and your company's actual policies. It is a personal assistant rather than a reporting tool: it covers your own time off, when your colleagues are away, and how your leave policy works, and it can prepare a leave request for you to submit.

Vee can make mistakes. If an answer looks wrong or contradicts what you see on screen, trust your dashboard and let our Support team know.

What Vee can see

  • Your balances: entitlement, days used, days scheduled and days remaining, for each of your leave types.
  • Your leave policy: how your days accrue, whether approval is needed, whether half-days are allowed, and what rolls over.
  • Your requests: what is pending, approved or upcoming.
  • When people are away: approved leaves across your team, so it can tell you who is off next week or whether a week you want clashes with anyone.
  • Your company's holidays for your location.

What Vee cannot see or do

  • Anyone else's leave balance. Vee declines this, including for Administrators.
  • Book or cancel leave for another person. Vee only acts on your own leave.
  • Approve or deny requests.
  • Anything outside Vacation Tracker. Vee sticks to your time off and how Vacation Tracker works.

Vee does not give you access to anything you could not already reach in Vacation Tracker. It works within your role and your company's visibility settings.

What this means for each role

  • Users get their own balances, their policy explained in plain language, and a faster way to book or cancel their own leave.
  • Approvers can check team availability before planning around it, but still approve and deny in the dashboard or in Slack and Microsoft Teams.
  • Administrators get the same personal assistant as everyone else. Vee answers for the person asking, so it will not pull figures for the whole team. For company-wide numbers, use Reports in your dashboard.

Common Questions

Not through Vee. Vee only returns the balance of the person asking. Whether your manager can see your balance elsewhere in Vacation Tracker depends on their role and your company's settings, exactly as before.

Not on its own. Vee prepares the request and opens the normal Request Leave form with your details filled in, and you submit it. See How Do I Use Vee?

They work the same way: you describe what you need in your own words instead of learning commands. Vee lives in the dashboard, the bot lives in your chat tool. Use whichever you already have open.

The MCP Server connects your own AI tool, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your Vacation Tracker account, and it is read-only. Vee is built into Vacation Tracker and can also prepare leave requests. See How Do I Connect Vacation Tracker to My AI Tools with the MCP Server?
