User Training 5: Know When Your Leave Is Approved or Denied in Slack

Vacation Tracker messages you in Slack at each step, so you don't have to keep checking the dashboard.

Messages come from the Vacation Tracker app in your Slack direct messages.

When You Send a Request

Your request is on its way to the approver. The message shows whether anyone else in your Department is off, the leave type, date, days requested, days remaining and your reason. To edit or cancel, it points you to the dashboard with Open dashboard.

Slack message: Your request is on its way to the approver

When It's Approved

Your request has been approved, with the same details and the name of your Approver.

Slack message: Your request has been approved

When It's Denied

Your request has been denied, with the leave type, date, Status: Denied and your Approver. If they gave a reason, it's under Reason for denying.

Slack message: Your request has been denied with Reason for denying

Check It Worked

Each step of your request shows up in the Vacation Tracker app in Slack.

Common Questions

Yes. Turn on Email notifications in Account Settings. Article 8 shows how.

Depending on your company's settings, the request can expire. You'll see it under History with Re-send request.
