Chapter 1: How We Made Taking Time Off Easier Than Ever
Here at Vacation Tracker, we’re all ears when it comes to customer feedback. The insights and suggestions from you, our customers, were the driving force behind the exciting features and improvements that we made a reality this year.
A Better Onboarding Process
We introduced a smoother onboarding experience with our brand-new Import Users page and Auto-Import users functionality, so more users could experience the joy of seamless leave management in just a few clicks.
Improved Visibility in Managing Leave Requests
Approvers also now get up to three reminders about pending leave requests, after which the request will expire and has to be resubmitted for approval. This way, nothing gets lost in the silos. Our new Wallchart feature also offers unparalleled visibility into your team’s PTO activity in a visual, colorful way.
We also expanded PTO accrual functions and hourly leave tracking for users on the Complete plan, while also introducing automatic out-of-office replies and enhanced integration with external Outlook and Google calendars.
Greater Leave Management Functionalities
Whether it was the simplicity of marking half-day holidays or the added transparency offered by Company Logs, each feature we added to our platform was shaped by your experiences and needs. We also hopped on the AI wave, allowing our users to use AI to book their next vacation. Instead of the usual “Request Leave” command in Microsoft Teams, our AI chatbot lets you chat and detail your time-off plans for easier leave booking.
In addition to countless new features like 24-hour and AM/PM formats, we’ve also made multiple enhancements to features such as Auto User Import and Automatic Pro-rating.

Chapter 2: Going on a Team-Building Adventure in Serbia
To celebrate Vacation Tracker turning 5, we didn’t just sit back in our home offices and cut a slice of cake. Nope. Our remote employees packed their bags, grabbed passports, and ventured into the Serbian mountains instead.
That’s right: in July, our entire Vacation Tracker team united in person for the first time, during an offsite in Divčibare, Serbia.
Our team spans across Serbia, Canada, and Spain, and the goal was simple—to forge connections between team members from different corners of the globe.
For over 3 days, we explored the picturesque landscapes, indulged in delicious local Serbian cuisine, and savored some top-notch rakija. Most importantly, we bonded and got to know each other on a whole new level in a way that goes beyond the screens we see each other on every single day. We encouraged collaboration among those who don’t typically work together, engaged in discussions about the future of Vacation Tracker, and strategized how the team will eventually take the reins from our Co-founders, Slobodan and Lav.

The bonds formed during these three days were truly heartwarming and served as a reminder of the strength of our unbreakable team spirit.
Five years of success, growth, and learning have brought us to this point, and we’re more energized than ever for the adventures that lie ahead! Up next: Spain?
Chapter 3: Securing GDPR & SOC 2 Type 2 Certifications
In plain English, achieving GDPR Compliance and SOC 2 Type 2 is our way of saying, “Hey, we’ve got your back when it comes to the privacy and security of your data.”
After months of hard work and rigorous audits, we employed top-notch practices to shield your data and collaborate with independent experts to double-check the security, privacy, and compliance controls in Vacation Tracker. Finally, in 2023, we successfully achieved our SOC 2 Type 2 report as well as GDPR Compliance, meeting some seriously high standards for continuous security control monitoring.

Imagine a space where you can dive deep into Vacation Tracker, get expert tips from our Support team, and have your burning questions answered in real time. That’s the essence of our monthly webinar, designed to be a dynamic platform for sharing insights, updates, and valuable information about Vacation Tracker.
These Office Hours episodes weren’t just a one-way conversation with our hosts Kat and Khushi, but rather an avenue where you can engage directly with us, ask questions, and receive instant answers. Your inquiries guided these discussions, making each session tailored to the topics that matter most to you.

Reflecting on the journey so far, we’re delighted to share that we’ve had six successful Office Hours sessions this past year. Each session has been a unique opportunity to connect with our users and helps foster a real sense of community within Vacation Tracker.

Chapter 5: Hitting Our Tree-Planting Milestone
Since the launch of our tree-planting initiatives with our partners One Tree Planted back in March 2022, we’ve been on a mission to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
How it works
Our green journey is directly impacted by the actions our users take in Vacation Tracker. For every 100 leave requests submitted on our platform, a survey completed, or an annual subscription bought, a tree is planted in their honor.
In October 2023, we proudly hit the remarkable milestone of having planted 10,524 trees with our partners One Tree Planted!
To us, every tree we plant holds a special place in our journey, representing not just a number but a symbol of our unwavering dedication to environmental conservation. It’s a commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact for generations to come.
These trees aren’t confined to a single location—they span across the world from Thailand to Australia, making a global impact on reforestation efforts. From lush forests to arid landscapes, our trees are contributing to the restoration and conservation of diverse ecosystems everywhere.

As of December 2023, we have planted 11,989 trees so far and hope to reach our next milestone of 15,000 trees sometime in 2024!
