Guide: Automations, Add-ons, and Integrations
Everything you can turn on to extend Vacation Tracker, in one place.
3-minute read
Two pages under Workspace Settings hold everything you can turn on to extend Vacation Tracker beyond its core features. The Add-ons page has the Automations (rules the system enforces on leave) and the other Add-ons (privacy and custom fields). The Integrations page has the connections to other tools, including API, Zapier and ADP, which used to be under Add-ons. Some are included in your plan; others are activated on demand or coming soon.
Automations
Automations are rules Vacation Tracker enforces in the background so you don't have to. Each one watches for a specific pattern and blocks or adjusts leave requests automatically.
- Leave Request Notice Period Core & Complete
Requires longer leave requests to be submitted a set number of days in advance. - Probation Period Complete only
Restricts leave for new hires during their probation. - Blackout Period Complete only
Blocks time off during critical periods (product launches, year-end close, etc.). - Entitlement by Role Complete only
Grants additional leave based on a User's role, defined by Labels. - Seniority Entitlement Complete only
Rewards employees with extra leave days based on tenure, added at the start of the fiscal year or on each work anniversary. - Maximum Users Away Complete only
Caps how many people from a team can be off at the same time. - Leave Duration Limit Complete only
Sets a minimum and maximum length for each leave request during a set period.

Add-ons cover privacy and custom data. They're activated on demand on any paid plan.

Read and change your data from your own tools, with API keys you create on the Open API page. - Webhooks
Vacation Tracker sends a request to your URL when something changes, for example when a leave is approved. - MCP
Use Vacation Tracker from AI assistants like Claude or Cursor.

Common Questions
Automations and Add-ons are under Workspace Settings > Add-ons. Use All, Active and Inactive to filter the cards, and click a card to open it. If it's Inactive, you'll be asked to confirm the subscription first. Integrations (ADP, API, BambooHR, MCP, Webhooks, Zapier) are under Workspace Settings > Integrations. Only Admins see the Add-ons page.
Automations enforce rules on leave requests (Blackout, Probation, etc.). Add-ons extend the product with privacy tools or custom fields. Integrations connect Vacation Tracker to external tools (ADP, API, MCP, Webhooks, Zapier, and BambooHR soon).
No. Turning on an Automation, Add-on, or Integration doesn't change any leave that's already been approved. Only new requests and future data flow through the new rules.
