Accruals

 PTO (Paid Time Off)

  • Vacation/ Annual Paid Leave

An employee is entitled to annual, uninterrupted, paid vacation leave, depending on the number of years worked. Employees who has been employed for the same employer for less than 10 years are entitled to 20 days of leave. Employees who has been employed for at least 10 or more years are entitled to 26 days of annual leave. Vacation may be divided into parts upon the employee’s application. Such part of the vacation leave should last no less than fourteen consecutive calendar days.

Employers are required to provide an employee with an unused vacation at the latest up to 30 September of the following calendar year

  • PTO payout at the termination

If all or part of the leave to which an employee is entitled is not used prior to the termination or expiry of the employment relationship, the employee is entitled to the cash equivalent.

Maternity Leave, Parental Leave, Stillbirth Leave, Childcare Leave

Maternity Leave

Employees are entitled to 20 weeks of leave in the event of giving birth of one child, 31 weeks in the event of giving birth to two children at one birth, 33 weeks in the event of giving birth to three children at one birth, 35 weeks in the event of giving birth to four children at one birth, and 37 weeks in the event of giving birth to five or more children at one birth.

Employees are entitled at least 2 weeks of maternity leave before the expected date of birth.

A female employee, after having used at least 14 weeks of maternity leave after the birth, is entitled to waive of the remaining part of the leave; in this case, the unused part of the maternity leave is granted to a male employee raising his child, upon his written request. 

Paternity Leave

The father who is raising the child has a right to two-week paternity leave. The leave can be divided into two parts.

An employee who has adopted a child is entitled to paternity leave which may be used until the end of the 24-month period from the date of the court’s adoption decision becoming final and valid, no later than until the child reaches the age of 7, and in the case of a child for whom a decision to postpone the compulsory school attendance is made, no later than until the age of 10.

Parental Leave

Employees are entitled to up to 32 weeks of parental leave. Leave can be granted to both male and female employees. 

Employees are entitled to up to 60 percent of their regular allowance.

Stillbirth Leave

In the event of stillbirth, or if the child dies within the first 8 weeks, a female employee is entitled to maternity leave of 8 weeks after the birth, though not less than 7 days from the death of the child. An employee who has given birth to more than one child at one birth is entitled to maternity leave in the scope depending on the number of children who remain alive.

Employees are entitled to up to 4 weeks of additional maternity leave in case of stillbirth.

If the child dies after the first 8 weeks, the female employee retains the right to maternity leave for 7 days from the death of the child.

Employees are entitled to up to 6 weeks of additional maternity leave in case of the death of a child.

If a newborn child requires hospital care, a female employee who has used 8 weeks of the maternity leave after the birth, may use the remaining part of that leave at a later date, after the child has been released from the hospital.

Childcare Leave

Employees are entitled to up to 36 months of unpaid leave, not longer than until the end of the calendar year in which the child reaches the age of 6. Employees must be employed at least 6 months before requiring a leave. The leave may be used by a mother or father who are employees. This leave is granted at a written request of the employee, in no more than 5 parts.

Sick Leave, Disability Leave

Sick Leave

Employees are entitled to paid sick leave due to illness or isolation due to a contagious disease lasting in total up to 33 days in a calendar year, and in the case of an employee who has reached 50 years of age lasting in total up to 14 days in a calendar year, the employee retains the right to 80 percent of his remuneration

In case of an accident on the way to work or from work or illness during pregnancy, an employee retains the right to 100 percent of her remuneration.

Disability Leave

A person classified as a severe or moderate degree of disability is entitled to an additional vacation leave of 10 working days in a calendar year. The right is acquired by the person after working one year and after being classified in one of the above degrees of disability.

Employees are entitled to unpaid military leave, in order to perform their duties.
