Vacation Leave Quota

Employees in Moldova are entitled to a minimum of 28 days of paid vacation per year. Employees in Moldova are entitled to a minimum of 28 days of paid vacation per year. The exact number of vacation days is determined by the individual employment contract or other collective agreements. Moldova’s leave policy is one of the most generous vacation leave provisions in Europe, with far more days than in, for example, Germany, the Netherlands, or even France.
All employees, regardless of their job, are entitled to vacation leave. Non-working public holidays are not included in this vacation entitlement.
The following categories of employees can benefit from 4 additional vacation days:

Workers performing in harmful conditions;

Workers with severe visual disabilities;

Parents who have two or more children under the age of 14;

Employees can start taking vacation leave 6 months after the signing of the employment contract.
Sick Leave in Moldova

There is no specific entitlement to a specific number of paid sick leave days for employees. An employee is allowed to take paid sick leave only after presenting a medical certificate to their employer.

Paternity leave in Moldova is 14 days of paid paternity leave. This leave may be taken within the first 56 days after childbirth.

Parental Leave

Employees who had a child may take up to 36 months of partially paid parental leave. After the end of maternity or paternity leave, any of the parents may take parental leave.

The state social insurance pays the leave regarding its length:
- 1 year - 90% of the average earnings;
- 2 years - 60% of the average earnings during the first year of leave, and 30% of the average earnings in the second year of leave;
- 3 years - 30% of the average earnings.
Bereavement Leave in Moldova

Employees in Moldova are entitled to bereavement leave for the duration of:

3 days in case of the death of an immediate family member (a parent, a child, or in-laws, etc.);

1 day in case of the death of a relative who is not considered an immediate family.
To be eligible for bereavement leave, employees must have at least 6 months of continuous service at the organization.
