The plan covers the essentials: a dashboard, one leave type, the calendar, and the core integrations. The paid plans (Core and Complete) build on top of it when you need more.
What the Free plan includes
Unlimited Users: no cap on how many people can sign in
1 Approver: a single person routes all leave requests
1 Location, 1 Department, 1 Leave Type: everyone is on the same setup
Leave requesting and approving: the core flow
Leave and Birthday notifications: automated summaries and celebrations
Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Workspace integrations: use the dashboard or the bot on whichever platform your team lives in
What the Free plan doesn't include
Multiple Locations, Departments, or Leave Types: the Free plan is single of each; more setups need Core or Complete
Automations, Add-ons, and advanced policies: Automations, accruals, hourly leave, TOIL, Labels, scheduled reports, and shared calendars all live in the paid plans
Advanced integrations and reporting: ADP, Zapier, OpenAPI, MCP, Leave Balance and Leave Request reports, and priority support all sit on the paid plans
When the Free plan fits
Small teams getting started: a clean leave tracker without onboarding a paid tool
Testing the product: see how the dashboard, Calendar, and bot fit your team before committing to a paid tier (though a free trial gives full Complete access separately)
Uniform teams: when everyone is in one Location, one Department, and one leave type, Free is enough
When to move to Core or Complete
You need more than one Location, Department, or Leave Type: any additional setup requires Core (3 Locations, 10 Departments, unlimited leave types) or Complete (unlimited everything)
Policies are getting nuanced: accruals, hourly leave, TOIL, and Automations all live in the paid plans
Reporting needs to be automated: Scheduled Reports start at Complete
You want a shared team calendar: iCal shared connection is Core; Google or Outlook shared calendar is Complete
What each role does
Administrator: chooses the plan and switches between tiers from Billing. Free workspaces can upgrade at any time without losing data
Approver: experiences the same approval flow on every tier; the difference is which advanced rules are available to layer on top
User: requests and tracks leave the same way on Free as on the paid tiers
Common Questions
Yes. Users, leave types, balances, history, and integrations stay exactly as they were. The plan change just affects which features are switched on.
No. The Free plan is permanent. There's a separate 14-day free trial that gives full Complete-plan access for testing, but the Free plan itself doesn't time out.
No. The plan applies to the whole workspace, not per User. If you need paid-tier features for a single team, the whole workspace moves to the paid tier.
