Microsoft Teams: Billing with Vacation Tracker vs. Microsoft Transactables
If you use Vacation Tracker with Microsoft Teams, you've got two ways to pay for it — directly through us, or through Microsoft's App Source (Transactables). The product is the same either way; the difference is where the invoices live and who handles the billing.
Two Ways to Pay for Vacation Tracker
There are two paths for signing up to Vacation Tracker:
- Sign up directly through the Vacation Tracker website.
- Sign up through Microsoft App Source or the Microsoft App Store (also known as Microsoft Transactables).
Side-by-side Comparison
Vacation Tracker Billing
- Sign up on the Vacation Tracker website.
- Billing info and invoices live in your Vacation Tracker dashboard.
- As an Admin, you can view and update payment details directly in-app.
- Refunds are handled by our Support team.
- No dependency on Microsoft tenant admin privileges.
Microsoft Transactables
- Sign up through Microsoft App Source / App Store.
- Billing info and invoices live in your Microsoft account.
- Requires Microsoft Admin access to manage billing.
- Refunds must be requested through the Microsoft Admin Portal.
- User capacity is tied to licenses — assign via the Manage Licenses flow inside Vacation Tracker.
How to View Vacation Tracker Billing
If you signed up directly through the Vacation Tracker website, here's where your billing lives:
- Sign in at app.vacationtracker.io.
- In the left-hand menu, expand Workspace Settings.
- Click Billing.
- You'll see your current subscription and plan type (Core or Complete).
- To change payment details, click Edit next to Billing Information. Make your updates, then click Update Billing Info. Changes appear on your next invoice.
How to View Microsoft Transactables Billing
If you signed up through the Microsoft marketplace, your billing lives in your Microsoft tenant — not in the Vacation Tracker dashboard. To manage it:
- Log into your Microsoft 365 Admin Center (you'll need Admin access on the Microsoft side).
- Navigate to your Subscriptions or Billing section in Microsoft.
- Find your Vacation Tracker subscription and manage payment details, licenses, or cancellation from there.
Common Questions
Open Vacation Tracker and go to Workspace Settings → Billing. If you see billing details and an Edit button for payment information, you're on Vacation Tracker's own billing. If that section instead directs you to Microsoft's portal or shows Microsoft Transactables-specific controls, you're on Transactables. On the Users tab, a Manage Licenses button is another strong signal that you're on Transactables.
It's possible, but not self-serve. Switching involves cancelling on one side and setting up fresh on the other, and we'll want to coordinate to avoid losing any configuration or data. Reach out to Support if you'd like to explore this — they'll walk you through the options.
The plan prices are listed on our pricing page and apply the same way on both paths. Microsoft may apply its own tax and currency handling on Transactables invoices depending on your region, which can make the final number look slightly different on your Microsoft invoice vs. what a direct VT invoice would show, but the per-user rate is the same.
