Can my users earn their accrued amount at the beginning of the accrual period?

As you may already know you can configure the accrual settings within the Locations section of the online dashboard. This feature will allow Admins to choose the frequency of the days accrued based on the number of days entered in the Yearly Leave Quota section.

Some companies set the accrual date to be at the end of the accrual period (the last day of the month if it’s a monthly accrual) or the beginning of the following accrual period (the first day of the following month).

As an example, let’s say we accrue monthly and our accrual period is September 1st to September 30th.

We may set the accrual to be awarded to the users on September 30th (last day of the month):

Or, we may set the accrual to be awarded to the users on October 1st (first day of the following month):

However, in some cases, companies may want to allow for the users to receive their accrued amount ahead of time, at the beginning of the accrual period (the first day of the month).

Using the example above, this would mean that the accrual would be awarded to the users on September 1st (for the period of September 1st to September 30th). Ahead of time:

If you would like to allow the users to earn ahead of time, please see the following steps:

1. Go to https://app.vacationtracker.io/signin to log in to the online dashboard
2. Select Leave Setup
3. Select Locations
4. Choose the location that you’d like to add the accruals feature to
5. Select the Leave Policies tab on top
6. Select the Edit icon on the right-hand side of the Leave Type

Within the Accruals section of the Leave Policy window, you will be able to set the frequency of the accrued days.

Please make sure that there is an amount in the Leave Quota section so that our system can calculate the amounts for you.

You will be able to select one of three of the following accrual options: Monthly, Semimonthly, Bi-weekly and Weekly.

Once you’ve chosen the accrual option, choose the date when the Next Accrual will be Awarded on, but pay attention to the Current Accrual Period section (to ensure you’re choosing the first day of the accrual period so they can earn ahead):
